Pythagenport

Pythagenport is a winning percentage estimator developed by Clay Davenport as a variation of Bill James' Pythagorean Theorem. Pythagenport allows for a floating exponent based on the total number of runs scored and allowed per game (RPG) rather than the traditional fixed Pythagorean exponent. The formula is more accurate than Pythagorean for extreme environments, as it was tested in the 4-40 RPG range.

A team's Pythagenport W% estimate is:

W% = R^x/(R^x + RA^x)

where x = 1.5*log(RPG) + .45

It has been deprecated by Clay Davenport in favor of PythagenPat.
