Clay Davenport
Clay Davenport is a sabermetrician associated with Baseball Prospectus known best for the development of Equivalent Average (EqA), Wins Above Replacement Player (WARP), and the Davenport Translations featured on the Baseball Prospectus website.
Also a meteorologist for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Davenport has been a part of the Baseball Prospectus team since its inception. In addition to publishing articles on the site, he has worked as an editor on the Baseball Prospectus annuals. Though he is less involved in the day-to-day operations and has seldom written for the site in recent years, he still works behind the scenes maintaining the site's advanced statistics.
Clay began working full-time for Baseball Prospectus as of March 1, 2010. Baseball Prospectus lists among his responsibilities as a full-time employee the re-programming of PECOTA from Excel to run on a faster program, assisting with research and creating metrics, and writing.
