Sabermetrics
From Wiki
Sabermetrics is a term coined by Bill James, defined as "the search for objective knowledge about baseball". James' original definition was "the mathematical and statistical analysis of baseball records". The term is a combination of SABR (the Society for American Baseball Research) with "metrics", meaning measurement. Practitioners of sabermetrics are referred to as sabermetricians.
Contrary to popular perception, the field of sabermetrics can incorporate much more than just statistical analysis. One of the current areas of research is the combination of statistical analysis with what has traditionally been considered scouting.
