Run Average

Run Average (RA) is simply the number of runs a pitcher allows per nine innings, figured as 9*R/IP. It is also equal to Earned Run Average plus the number of unearned runs allowed per nine innings.
Some analysts believe that the earned run draws an unnecessary distinction, and thus prefer to consider all runs allowed. For them, RA is the fundamental rate of runs allowed.
