Fielding Percentage

Fielding Percentage (also known as Fielding Average) is a simple measure of fielding that factors Total Chances (TC) and Errors. It is calculated by dividing the number of successful chances (putouts and assists) by the number of Total Chances (putouts, assists and errors).

This is usually considered an inaccurate measure of fielding because it does not account for the number of chances a player had, or factor for position.

The use of errors has also been considered inaccurate because there is no concrete definition for an error.
