Guaranteed future MLB salaries (March 24, 2004)
Thanks to BattersBox.ca
This is really interesting. Look at LA and Montreal. No obligations starting from 2005. If I were a prospective GM, I'd love to have the chance at LA, a chance to shape the team as I want it. Thankfully, the official Primate Studies hero is in charge there.
One other layer that I would add to these charts is "expected salary value" for each player. For example, SF has an obligation for 82 million$ for the next 2 years. But, if the guys they have lined up would have commanded 90 million$ on the open market, I don't consider this a bad thing. Far from it. The liability may be 82 million, but the asset is 90 million. The Yanks, I'm quite certain, don't have 567 million$ of assets tied up.

The chart has assigned all of ARod's contract to the Yankees, so there actual obligation is probably over $55M less.

Christ, that Jeter contract is beyond a nightmare.
Is there a similar list available for deferred contracts?
